Operation Sceptre |

⚔️ Operation Sceptre This Monday marks the start of our national knife crime initiative called Operation Sceptre. During this week our Safer Neighbourhood Officers will be visible in the community hosting street meets, carrying out knife sweeps, and performing stop searches.
In addition to our year round focus on knife crime we will be visiting schools and educating young people about the dangers of carrying a knife, the impact knife crime can have and ways to support our plea to #DropTheKnife.
Whilst it is the minority of people who choose to carry knives in Derbyshire, it can have a devastating impact, and by carrying a knife those people are also putting themselves more at risk of being hurt.
By talking to young people about the impact around knife crime and answering their questions, we can educate people on the many ways #knivesshatterlives, and together we can keep knife crime out of the county.
The knife amnesty bin will be available at Ilkeston Police station between 8am -7pm every day during this week for members of the public to hand knives in. They will be safely disposed of and it could prevent them getting into the wrong hands.
We will be using social media and Derbyshire Alert to educate parents and young people so look out out for our posts and share them to enhance the message. #opsceptre #knivesshatterlives #droptheknife
